Ahmedabad, March 6 (IANS) The Congress Friday attacked Gujarat’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused Chief Minister Narendra Modi of not paying attention to the deteriorating law and order situation in the port town of Porbander.
“The chief minister has been ignoring the rising crime graph in Porbander – the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi – where people committing crimes such as loot and murder are moving about freely,” Leader of Opposition in the assembly Shaktisinh Gohil told reporters here.
He said policemen who were after crime gangs in Porbander for a while were being threatened with dire consequences if they apprehended them.
“There is a case of a police constable’s wife being killed in retaliation by a criminal gang in Porbander for arresting a member of the gang,” Gohil said.
