New Delhi : A man was killed and another critically injured after their motorcycle fell off the Palam-Dwarka flyover in the national capital Monday, the police said. As many as eight people have died on the stretch in the last eight days.

Srikant, working as a photographer, was going towards Dwarka in southwest Delhi around 2 a.m. Monday when the accident occurred.

“Srikant was riding the motorcycle while his friend was sitting pillion. When they reached the sharp curve on the flyover, he lost control over the bike and hit the side verge. Both of them fell on a concrete slab below,” DCP southwest K. Jagdishan told IANS.

They were immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital, where Srikant was declared brought dead while his friend was said to be in critical condition, Jagdishan said.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have appealed to motorcyclists to slow down on the stretch to avoid such incidents.

“We are in discussions with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for placing speed breakers and increasing the height of side wall on the stretch of flyover. There is a need to put sign boards showing speed limit warnings,” DCP Traffic (southern range) Rupinder Singh said.
