Karachi : Pakistan’s cricket bosses are hopeful that their team’s tour of Bangladesh for a One-day series will go ahead in spite of security apprehensions.
Saleem Altaf, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer, told IANS Monday that he is in constant touch with Bangladesh officials, adding there is a big possibility that the new dates would be soon finalized.
Altaf said that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has promised to come out with something concrete later Monday.
“The BCB is expected to get back to us this evening with information on the new itinerary (of the tour),” said Altaf.
“I have a fair inkling that the tour will be confirmed soon.”
Pakistan was scheduled to tour Bangladesh from March 7 to play five One-day internationals and two Twenty20 games.
But the tour was postponed by the BCB on the instructions of its government a day after gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore March 3.
Media reports last week suggested that the tour will now get underway from March 28 but will be reduced to three one-dayers. However, so far nothing has been confirmed.
