Iran, South Korea keen to expand legal cooperation

Beijing : Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi and South Korea’s Chief Justice Lee Yong-hun on Monday discussed ways to promote judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Iran’s Jidiciary spokesman Alireza Jamshidi told IRNA by phone South Korea is keen on getting acquaintance with Iran’s achievements in judicial system.

Lee Yong-hun expressed his country’s willingness to develop judicial cooperation with Iran.

He also welcomed the Iranian high-ranking delegation led by Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi who arrived in Seoul Monday morning.

During his four-day stay in Seoul, the Iranian Judiciary chief is to hold talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak and a number of the country’s senior officials.

The talks would focus on issues of mutual interests as well as bilateral cooperation in legal and judicial fields.

Hashemi-Shahroudi is due to give address to a meeting attended by South Korea’s judges and lawyers as well.

The Iranian and South Korean officials are also scheduled to sign two agreements on judicial issues.
