New Delhi: Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque, Dr. Mufti Mohammad Mukarram Ahmad stressed that human beings had been created for the success in this world and hereafter as well. The verses of the Holy Qur’an also reveal the same message. The religion Islam does not propagate the giving up of the world and ascetic way of life. It is necessary that we must strive to seek Allah’s mercy. He was delivering the weekly Friday sermon here yesterday.
“The General Elections are round the corner. It is our fundamental right to vote for and elect a candidate that can work for the welfare of the Muslims. We must not waste this opportunity” said Mufti Mukarram.
Referring to the propaganda of political parties, Mufti Mukarram had a word of caution, “Muslims beware of the false propaganda being unleashed by various political parties – national or regional. Please elect such a candidate who fights for the rights of the people of this constituency” he said.
Dr. Mufti Mukarram Ahmad especially appealed to the women to cast their votes. He also requested the Election Commission to grant permission to exercise their franchise to such women who want remain burqa clad. But he also said that they have to be verified by the locals. He also announced his full support to those Muslim candidates who are committed to resolving the issues of the community as well as play an active role in the developmental activities particularly related to the Muslim Ummah.
“Some of the political parties have always exploited Muslims to grab the power” groaned Mufti Mukarram. He congratulated the Congress Party for setting an example by taking back the nominations of Jagdeesh Tytler from North-West Delhi and Sajjan Kumar from North Delhi.
