New Delhi: A leading official of the archaeological survey of government of India informed today that Zafar Mahal will be turned into a museum as a tribute to last Moghul King, Bahadur Shah Zafar. Zafar Mahal is situated in Mehrauli, Delhi, a historical locality rich in historical heritage of Muslim era.
Divulging government plans in this regard, the officer said, “The decision to establish a museum in Zafar Mahal will serve two purposes. Firstly, it will enhance the numbers of Zafar Mahal visitors. Secondly, it will also in checking illegal occupation of historical sites besides controlling damages caused by them.”
According to Archaeological Department, the government has planned to display a number of artifacts now displayed in Red Fort museum. A list of artifacts related to the last Moghul King has already been prepared. Moghul emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar used to vacation summer days at Zafar Mahal.
