Youth with swine flu symptoms admitted to hospital

Kolkata : A youth, suspected to be afflicted with the H1N1 virus or swine flu, was admitted to a government hospital here and kept under observation in an isolation ward after he arrived here from Dubai, official sources said Wednesday.

Shyamal Sarkar, originally from Ranaghat in West Bengal’s Nadia district, was rushed to I.D. Hopsital at Beliaghata Tuesday after arriving at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport on a flight from Dubai.

Doctors at the airport said Sarkar, who works in Dubai as a carpenter, was having cough and a high temperature for the last few days.

A special team of doctors was posted at the airport to check arriving international passengers. Hospital sources said Sarkar was kept in an isolation ward. His blood samples were being sent for investigation and the reports is expected within 48 hours.
