Bhopal:The Madhya Pradesh Congress Monday alleged that state health officials have indulged in large scale bungling causing loss of about Rs.3 crore to the state exchequer.
A complaint in this regard was submitted to the state ombudsman, Lokayukta.
State Congress spokesman K.K. Mishra said about 50 lakh health cards to be distributed to the beneficiaries of the health scheme, Dindayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojana, were printed at exorbitant rates by a health official who is already facing a slew of corruption cases.
The health scheme is to provide free treatment and investigation facilities to patients belonging to the lower socio economic strata of the society and safeguard them from indebtedness arising out of illness.
Mishra alleged that suspended health department director Yogiraj Sharma, accused in a disproportionate assets case, issued the orders for the printing of cards though he was not entitled to do so.
Printers were paid about Rs.6 crore – double than the market rate – causing loss of not less than Rs.3 crore to the state exchequer. He demanded strict action against the accused officers.
“The documents related to the bungling have been given to the Lokayukta as evidence along with an affidavit,” said Mishra.
