New Delhi : India will continue to partner with China on the global stage and strengthen its relations with the Asian power, but at the same time not compromise on its territorial integrity, said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday.
In a speech in parliament, Manmohan Singh said that China was a “strategic partner” with which India has a multi-lateral partnership, including a large trading relationship.
He said that both countries shared a common commitment to peace.
On the boundary dispute with China, the prime minister said that there was already a mechanism in place to address it.
Manmohan Singh noted that the two Asian giants were interested in building a “stable and strong relationship”. At the same time, he said his government will not compromise on the matter of its sovereignty or maintaining its territorial integrity.
