Srinagar : Two unidentified separatist guerrillas were killed Wednesday in a fierce gunfight with security personnel in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, police said.
Troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and special operations group (SOG) of the police surrounded a house in Arampora locality in Sopore in the morning on specific information that militants were holed up inside, an official said.
“The hiding guerrillas were challenged to surrender but they opened fire at the surrounding security forces, triggering a gunfight. In the end, the two militants were killed,” the officer added.
The house in which the militants had taken shelter was destroyed in the gun battle.
