Mumbai: The Mumbai crime branch police yesterday managed to get the police custody of Nikhat Saeed Ansari after producing her before a metropolitan magistrate court.
Ansari was arrested on July 14, from Byculla, by crime branch police for allegedly supplying arms to Chhota Shakeel gang shooters who are said to have plotted the murder of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and her advocates Ganesh Sovani and Naveen Chomal.
Being questioned, Nikhat, 21, reportedly accepted that she was provided with supari from Chhota Shakeel gang for killing Sadhvi.
On July 3, the Mumbai police had arrested four alleged shooters – Mohammed Aslam Ghachi alias Doctor (44), Kamil Anwar Ibzi alias John (24), Shahid Mohammed Ali Fakee alias Babu (26) and Arvindkumar Pathak alias Panditji (26) – of Chhota Shakeel Gang from south Mumbai.
Joint commissioner of police (crime) Rakesh Maria reportedly told that the two pistols, two knives and nine unused bullets recovered from these people. They were provided by Nikhat. He added that the arms to kill Sadhvi and her advocate were imported from UP and then supplied to the shooters through Nikhat.
