New Delhi : The Delhi Police Thursday informed the high court that Shanno Khan, a student of a state-run school, had died of an epilepsy attack and suggested that no case be made out against the teacher and the school.
It was alleged that 11-year-old Shanno, a student of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)-run school, died due to corporal punishment meted out by her teacher after she had failed to recite the English alphabets on April 17.
Police’s counsel Mukta Gupta filed a report and told Justice G.S. Sistani that the police would go by the medical report of Shanno, which reasoned epilepsy as the cause of the girl’s death.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has claimed that the girl died due to the school’s negligence.
The Commission suggested that criminal action be taken against the teacher and the MCD school.
