Mumbai: The leader of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind and Member of Parliament Maulana Mahmood Madani tied his knot with an Indian-British Muslim widow in Mumbai on July 16. This is his second marriage.
The nikah was performed with 38-year-old Indian origin British citizen from Gujarat in a simple ceremony at Madina Manzil in Goregaon. She is daughter of famous religious scholar of Gujarat Maulana Muhammad Ibrahim Tarapuri (Leicester, UK). She has no children from her first husband.
‘It was the wish of Maulana As’ad Madani that his son gets married with the widow. It got delayed as circumstances did not favor it,’ told the general secretary of Maharashtra Jamiat Ulama Maulana Zakir Qasmi while talking to TCN.
Maulana Mahmood Madani earlier had got married with the daughter of famous preacher (Muballigh) of Darul Uloom Deoband Maulana Irshad Ahmad Qasmi and he has six children from her. His first wife is alive and one of his sons is married.
Among the attendees of the ceremony were the brothers of Mahmood Madani; Sayyid Muhammad Madani and Hafiz Sayyid Wadood Madani, many scholars and office bearers of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra.
According to Sahafat daily, one of the Jamiat-I-Ulama members requesting anonymity commented on his marriage saying, ‘The Northern India is longing for even a drop of water but in the same area Allah has showered His mercy upon an Aalim.’
