An Azamgarh native working on senior managerial post in a company in Abu Dhabi (UAE) has given a call to all concerned to think about and work for the cause of education and awareness in Azamgarh. He dreams for an institute of higher education in Azamgarh to provide higher level technical and management education so that local talent could blossom at national and international levels. “Higher level technical and management education in Azamgarh is an area that is poorly served,” says the man.
Text of his letter that calls for educational revolution in Azamgarh:
A Call
Time to time we have witnessed – social injustice, social stigma, exploitation of powerless by the powerful, social division by politicians in different parts of our country and in our very own district. I don’t want to tell you another story of plight, but, I want to awaken the consciousness which gives us the resolve to do things, to fight for the change and to question the unchangeable.
Do we just want to live in our own isolated worlds, unaffected and happy with the state of not being perturbed, has our expectation from a free society fallen to such abysmal level? Are we waiting for some disruptive events to resurge the awareness of our current predicament? Are we waiting for someone else to come and bring the change for us? What have we done, what is the answer to this, Have we ever pondered? This is not my problem alone, this is not your problem alone, this is our problem, it is a national problem.
The answer to all the problems of my nation is summed in 1 word: EDUCATION. Education for all which brings in individual the power of rationality, to distinguish between right and wrong, to work for their own betterment and betterment of nation as a whole. And this cannot be achieved overnight. We need to work in small steps, work at smallest levels, starting from our own home, village and district and reach to nation. I am from Azamgarh, in eastern Uttar Pradesh, an agrarian society which is largely poverty ridden. Once upon a time, a literary center of India, today considered being the breeding ground for terrorists. A place of intellectual growth and religious harmony has digressed and acquired its name with negative light.
With education increasingly becoming a primary reason for overall development in the emerging knowledge-based economy. An Institute of higher education needs to be established in Azamgarh to provide higher level technical & management education to provide an opportunity to local talent to blossom at national and international levels. Higher level technical & management education in Azamgarh is an area that is poorly served.
With this letter we are seeking out to the established and intelligentsia of Azamgarh to contribute in non-trivial way for this cause of education through the means of creating a national level institute of higher education. The journey is long but the pleasure of travelling together is the reward. Feeling of having done our bit for our motherland is the reward. Step by step, we resolve to transform not only our district but our nation.
Here I call you, Call for your participation, Call for your presence and help, Call to your conscience – To do your bit, In making this world a better place to be inherited by our children, where they don’t have to worry about which part of country they are born, which religion they are born, which caste they are born.
