Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Thursday announced that his Gopalapuram house will be converted into a charitable hospital after his and his wife’s deaths.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Kalaignar Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatment, Karunanidhi said his house’s current value, according to the market rate, is Rs.8 crore (Rs.80 million).
“The hospital will be in the name of my parents Anjugam and Muthuvel. I have got the consent of my sons and wife for this,” he said, adding the house could be transferred to the state government or to the Kalaignar Trust for the purpose.
He said the other property in his name is 14 acres of land in Tiruvarur.
