New Delhi: Central paramilitary Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force has sent a replacement batch of 124 personnel to war-torn D.R. Congo as part of UN mission after its third batch returned to India Tuesday, an official said.
The fourth batch was led by Commandant G.C. Upadhayay.
“Our team comprises highly experienced commandos drawn from different units of the force. They have experience in doing operation at high altitude, counter insurgency operations, VIP protection, election duties, banking security and security of important installation,” a senior force official said here.
In D.R. Congo, the ITBP personnel have been assigned the duties of patrolling of mission compound to ensure security of UN staff and assets and to generate a sense of security among locals, escorts duties with Radio Okapi personnel, stand by quick reaction team, joint patrolling with local police and security of the country’s Supreme Court.
