Taipei : The toll in typhoon Morakot that devastated the country Aug 7 has risen to 136 Wednesday, officials said.
Six rescue workers were also killed during the relief work, emergency officials said.
Some 386 people were missing after the typhoon that caused havoc in the central and southern regions of Taiwan.
More than 24,000 people have been evacuated and nearly 6,000 people have been shifted to emergency shelters from the affected areas, officials said.
Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou Tuesday thanked China and the international community for helping in the disaster relief work.
China has donated 25 million yuan (about $3 million) to Taiwan in the aftermath of the typhoon.
China-based non-governmental organizations and individuals donated 176 million yuan ($26 million) for disaster relief, said an official.
Property worth 13 billion yaun has been damaged in the typhoon.
