Two killed in Baghdad bomb attack

By DPA,

Baghdad : Two people were killed and eight others injured Thursday when a bicycle bomb exploded in Baghdad, witnesses said.

The bicycle exploded in the crowded al-Rasheed street, damaging several offices of travel companies.

The explosion took place despite the high security in the Iraqi capital following a deadly wave of attacks Wednesday, which left more than 100 people dead and 1,200 injured.

Ten police and military officers are being questioned in relation to Wednesday’s 10 blasts — one of the worst terror attacks in recent years.

It is not the first time Iraq has suffered bicycle bomb attacks, which, while generally less powerful than car bombs, are even harder to detect.

In June 2006 at least 25 people were killed by a bicycle bomb in the city of Baqubah.
