Kochi: The dead bodies of all the four killed in the biogas plant mishap in Ernakulam were buried yesterday. The rescue operators ended the search for more dead bodies in the pool of the plant as all employees suspected to be missing were found.
The biogas plant in the compound of Al Jamia AL Kausariya Arabic College exploded on Wednesday, killing four people. The deceased are identified as Muhammed Ibrahim Turk alias Muhammed Ansari (64), Safan Giri (30), Shukdev Pancha (29) and Lalu (42).
Post-mortem of the dead bodies was done at the Aluva Taluk Hospital. Minister Jose Thettayil visited the hospital and expressed condolences. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, P Rajeev, MP, and AM Yusuf, MLA, visited the site in the evening.
The dead body of Muhammed Ibrahim Turk was buried in the qabarsthan of Edathala Malayilpalli Juma Masjid. His relatives had come from Lucknow. Turk was the plant construction engineer. The body of Lalu was kept for the public to see and later buried at Panayapilli. Lalu was a plumber and resident of Kochi. The bodies of Shukdev Pancha and Safan Giri (both from West Bengal) were to be taken to their native place but later the decision was changed as it would take three days. Safan Giri was buried in the public graveyard at Choornikkara and Pancha at Edathala.
There were eight people at the spot when the accident took place. Four lost their lives as the other four escaped.
