Maharashtra state committee of SDPI formed

Kochi: The Social Democratic Party formed its Maharashtra state committee yesterday. Liyakath Khan from Pune has been elected the President. Azhar Thamboli from Solapur and Amir Idrisi from Mumbai are the general secretaries. The committee was formed in the delegates meet held in Pune in the presence of the national general secretary A Saeed and working committee members like Maulana Usman Baig and Abdul Gaffar Shakir Aafaqi.

The party would fight for the realization of the basic values of justice, freedom, security and cordiality which are upheld by the Indian Constitution, said Liyakath Khan while taking over as the president. The SDPI would bring together all sections of people to fight for the purpose. It is the need of the time that there be a political party for the empowerment of all the marginalized and under-privileged clsses of people, he added.

Other office-bearers are Anjum Inamdar from Pune (vice-president), MZ Aaga Qazi from Nagpur (secretary) and Rafique Iqbal from Pune (treasurer). The state committee members are Humayun Mursalin from Kolhapur, Salim Shaikh from Pune, Nazir Mujawar from Solapur, Adv Salim Shaikh from Pune, Ashfaque Khan from Washim and Shahsad Ali from Gondia.
