Chhattisgarh inspector owns assets worth Rs.5 crore

Raipur : Simultaneous raids in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at the homes of a state government food and drug inspector have revealed the official owns assets worth Rs.5 crore.

Chhattisgarh’s EOW sleuths raided the house here of suspended food and drug inspector Neelambar Seth Thursday night.

“Seth had amassed massive assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. We have got enough documents of his illegal assets mainly houses, cars and plots of land in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh,” D.D. Chaturvedi, superintendent of police (EOW), told reporters here.

EOW sources said the raids confirmed that Seth had flats and properties in Mumbai. He also had properties in the name of his close relatives where EOW officials plan to carry out raids soon.

A case has been registered against Seth under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, but he is yet to be arrested.

Seth is reportedly residing somewhere in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh.
