Ramallah : Israeli forces raided the governorates of Nablus, Selfite, Ramallah, and Tulkarem in the West Bank on Thursday and arrested 15 Palestinians after having their homes searched thoroughly, a Palestinian police statement said.
The Israeli forces fired tear gas and sound bombs towards the houses of the Palestinians, but no casualties were reported.
Israeli security personnel moved the detained to investigation centers, without disclosing the political affiliations of those arrested.
Israel began almost daily arrest campaigns n the West Bank shortly after the beginning of Al-Aqsa Intifadha (revolt) in 2000.
Moreover, a group of Jewish settlers ignited vehicles of Palestinians residing in the Howarah village near Nablus, and they also set fire to harvest at Asira Al-Qibliya near Nablus, the police statement said.
Meanwhile, the Israeli forces prevented the farmers in Azmot village, east of Nablus, from reaching their farmlands and harvesting olives, particularly after imposing a siege on the farmlands adjacent to a road which links the two Israeli settlements of Yitzhar and Ma’ale Adummim.
On Wednesday, Jewish settlers assaulted Palestinian farmers in Qaryout village, near Nablus, and barred them from reaching their property.
Earlier today, the Israeli forces closed the western exit of Nablus City and the military barrier in the area, preventing the students and employees from the governorates of Qalqilya and Tulkarem from reaching their work place and colleges in Nablus.
The Israeli authorities closed a fence today, the same fence they declared was to be lifted a month ago. It was only re-located a short distance from the City and the Isralis also kept a military observation tower and a patrol, part of what Israel claimed was “facilitation measures” to ease Palestinians’ movements.
