Mohali (Punjab) : A 25-year-old law student committed suicide inside her hostel room in a college campus here, police said Tuesday.
Priyanka Singh, a second-year student at Army Institute of Law in Sector 68, was found hanging from the hook of a ceiling fan at around 11 p.m. Monday.
“The exact reason of suicide is still unknown. During the night, we had sealed her room and informed her family members. Her post-mortem examination will be done today (Monday),” Atul Soni, investigating officer of the case, told IANS.
“In the meantime, we have recorded the statements of her friends and other officials of the hostel. In the suicide note, she has only written ‘I am going, goodbye’,” he said.
Singh’s father is a senior official in the Indian Army and is posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohali town is around 10 km from state capital Chandigarh.
