Chandigarh: A city court Tuesday sent nine bouncers and the manager of a popular discotheque here to a day’s police remand for allegedly thrashing a legislator’s son and his friends during a party Saturday night.
The bouncers and a manager of Score discotheque in Sector 8 here were arrested after a complaint was registered Monday night by a group of youths who had gone to the discotheque to celebrate their friend’s birthday Saturday, according to the police.
Mansimran Singh Makkar, one of the complainant, said: “The bouncers started misbehaving with our female friend. When we resisted, they attacked us with sticks and batons.”
Makkar is son of Sarabjit Singh Makkar, the Akali Dal legislator from Adampur near Jalandhar city in Punjab.
The complainants have also accused the bouncers of stealing a laptop from their car.
But the bouncers maintain that they did not misbehave with anyone.
“They (the youths) were all in an inebriated condition and were creating a ruckus in the party. When we tried to stop them, they started threatening us of dire consequences,” said one of the arrested bouncers.
