Ticketing machine snags Metro commuters at Noida

By IANS,

New Delhi : Commuters were held up for about 20 minutes Monday when the token fare collection system malfunctioned at the Noida Sector 18 Metro station in Delhi’s eastern suburb.

“The automatic fare collection machines stopped working due to a technical glitch. As a result, people were stuck inside the station for quite some time. A team of experts fixed the problem,” a source from Delhi Metro told IANS.

Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said there was no delay and the technical snag was fixed almost immediately.

Srijit Roy, a regular Metro user, was caught in the chaos and said he had never earlier witnessed such malfunction in the Delhi Metro.

“Normally there are small delays. But this time people waited in queues behind the token machines for quite some time. When the crowd piled up, people started breaking the line. It got a bit chaotic,” Roy said.
