Mysore: Bowlers put Karnataka on top on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy final against Mumbai, bowling out defending champions for 233 at Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground here Monday.

Karnataka seamers R. Vinay Kumar (4-61) and Abhimanyu Mithun (3-56) shared seven wickets between them after Mumbai decided to bat first.

Karnataka were 15 for one when the stumps were drawn, with opener K.B. Pawan (2) and night watchman Vinay at crease.

Earlier, Mumbai’s strong batting line-up was left tottering at 100 for five. Vinayak Samant top scored with 67 runs while Abhishek Nayar chipped in with 37 and Iqbal Abdulla 30.
