British MP plans to table EDM on Indo-Pakistan dialogue

London : A British MP plans to table an Early Day Motion (EDM) in the House of Commons on the resumption of peace dialogue between Pakistan and India.

Paul Rowen, who represents constituency of Rochdale in north west England, informed Prof.Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Executive Director, Kashmir Centre, London, during their meeting at Westminster here last evening.

While discussing latest human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr.Rowan said his EDM on Kashmir which was tabled just before the British Parliament went into winter recess in December has been signed by 20 members of lower house.

Under the Parliamentary rules, an EDM must have 100 signatures before it could be debated by the members in the House of Commons.

They stressed on early resumption of composite dialogue between Pakistan and India and said this was important for peace in the region.

Shawl also discussed some upcoming programmes of Kashmir Centre with Rowen .

He promised complete cooperation in all those efforts which can bring peace in Kashmir and satisfy the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
