IPL match advanced by an hour for hockey World Cup final

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has decided to advance its league match on March 13 by an hour to avoid a clash with the final of the hockey World Cup here.

IPL commissioner Lalit Modi said that hosting an event like World Cup is a matter of pride for the entire nation.

“IPL is very happy that World Cup Hockey is being hosted in our country this year,” Modi said.

The final of the World Cup hockey tournament will be held on March 13 (6.05 p.m.) at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium here.

“The IPL as a goodwill gesture has decided to advance its league fixture on that day by an hour. Thus, the Mumbai Indians home fixture versus the Rajasthan Royals at Mumbai will now be played at 3 p.m. instead of the earlier scheduled 4 p.m.

“The IPL together with the billions of Indian hockey fans would like to wish our team all the very best for their upcoming World Cup campaign,” Modi said in a statement.
