Qureshi accuses India of confusion and hypocrisy

By IANS,

London : Pakistan Foreign Minister S.M. Qureshi Thursday accused the “Indian polity” of being confused and hypocritical in its attitude toward Pakistan.

He said he had given Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna a “crisp proposal and a roadmap” on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York last year “but he hasn’t got back to me”.

“That means he has nothing to offer,” he told Indian journalists at the end of an international conference on Afghanistan in London.

“India is confused over whether they should engage with Pakistan or shy away – rootha hua role adaa karein (act like someone who has been hurt).”

He said “the public stance adopted by the Indian Foreign Office is somewhat different from the private stance”, where Indians acknowledged post-26/11 Pakistani cooperation as “unprecedented”.

“But they are not willing to publicly admit that.”

Qureshi described the exclusion of Pakistani players from the Indian Premier League as a “faux-pas”.

The inclusion of Pakistani players of international stature “would have added quality”, said Qureshi.
