Gujarat golden jubilee rath yatra flagged off

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal Friday flagged off the Swarnim Gujarat Rathyatra that will criss-cross the state as part of the build-up to the golden jubilee celebrations of the state’s formation that begins May 1.

In the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, the rathyatra moved on a journey set to connect 19,165 villages of the state.

The 223 Sankalp Jyot Raths would enlighten the people about the pledge and commitment towards Gujarat and its achievements and history.

The roll of the chariots will conclude April 14, the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor praised the development of the state.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi called upon the people to infuse the spirit and vision of a golden Gujarat.

Quiz competitions are slated to be held on the theme – The glorious legacy and history of 5,000 years, the viewpoint of our ancestors.

Leader of the Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said it was an honour to witness the celebrations of Golden Jubilee year of Gujarat. “Let us all sharpen our pledge to contribute for the progress and prosperity of the poor,” he added.
