Dharamsala : Just two days ahead of the crucial meeting between the Dalai Lama and US President Barack Obama in the White House, Tibetan exiles settled in this hill station have sent Losar (Tibetan New Year) greetings to Obama.
“As many as 700 postcards were despatched to the White House today (Tuesday) from here as a welcome gesture for Obama’s decision to meet His Holiness (the Dalai Lama),” Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) president Kirti Dolkar Lhamo told IANS.
“We have collected signatures on postcards and wished Obama ‘Tashi Delek’ (the traditional New Year auspicious greetings),” she added.
The TWA is one of the oldest and largest NGOs of the exiles.
Despite protests by the Chinese over the proposed meeting, the White House has announced that Obama and the Dalai Lama would meet Feb 18.
