Samajwadi Party launches cycle rally in Uttar Pradesh

By IANS,

Lucknow : The Samajwadi Party (SP) Monday launched its state-wide, eight-day cycle rally of nearly 50,000 party workers against “anti-people polices of the central and the state governments”, the party said.

During the rally, SP activists would pedal across the state to inform the masses about the anti-people polices undertaken by the Congress-led central government and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state government.

“Our main objective behind the rally is to unmask the state and the central governments, who claim to be custodians of peoples’ rights and interests,” state SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary told reporters here.

“Be it the governments’ inefficiency to contain inflation, rampant corruption or their lackadaisical approach towards carrying out developmental work or other issues governing the common man. During the rally we will make people aware about all such issues,” he added.

According to party sources, during the rally the party will lay a special emphasis on strengthening and re-organising grassroot workers in those regions where the party’s mandate cannot be rated as satisfactory.

In this attempt, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh Yadav will lead the rally in the coming days in Amethi, the parliamentary constituency of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, they added.
