New Delhi : Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the premium luxury car brand of the Tata group, Thursday hoped to reach a sale-figure of about 250 units by this month-end as it opened its second showroom in the country here.
“We hope to end up selling close to 250 vehicles, both Jaguar and Land Rover. In the 9 months since we opened our first store in Mumbai, we have seen an encouraging response from customers,” said Rajiv Dube, president, passenger car business unit, Tata Motors.
JLR plans to open more showrooms in other cities. “We are pursuing plans to expand our reach to other cities in the country as well,” he added.
In the next fiscal, the company will open dealerships in cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and a greenfield showroom in Ludhiana.
In Delhi, the showroom is at AMP Motors on Janpath and displays the entire product range including the Jaguar XJ, XF, XK and the Land Rover Freelander 2, Discovery 4, and Range Rover Sport.
Both Jaguar and Land Rover range of vehicles start at a price tag of about Rs.60 lakh and go up to over Rs.1 crore.
JLR has seen a turnaround in its business in the last quarter of 2009, with the UK-based company posting net profits of about $82 million, after posting losses in the previous quarter.
It reported a 60 percent rise in sales in February 2010 as well, selling 17,197 cars around the world.
