Raza and Rizvi pushed out from UP Shia Waqf Board

Lucknow: In a significant development state government accepted the resignation of Justice (retd.) Syed Haider Abbas Raza and SAH Rizvi from the post of Member, UP Shia Central Board of Waqfs on Thursday. Rizvi has also been removed from the post of Chief Standing Counsel-II in High Court by the state government.

Justice Raza and advocate Rizvi were nominated as members of the Shia Waqf Board on March 25, 2010. Names of both these persons Justice Raza and Rizvi were in the reckoning for the chairmanship of the board. Several Shia organisations from both lobbies were active in getting their candidate elected for the post. Both the personalities were quite high profile in their categories as Justice Raza has also served as Lokayukta of Uttranchal. Meanwhile, Rizvi’s nephew is senior IAS officer in the state government and he is said to be close to a prominent Shia cleric of Lucknow.

Meanwhile a Shier cleric confided that both of them have started their election campaign and their supporters were engaged in washing dirty linen in the public. “Perhaps state government settled the score by getting rid of both of them from the scene,” he said.
