Aligarh: In a big push for Aligarh Muslim University’s off-campus centres project, the University Grants Commission has released an amount of Rs. 35 crore as grant-in-aid for establishment of the special centre in Murshidabad and Malappuram. An amount of Rs. 25 crore has been earmarked for Murshidabad campus and Rs. 10 crore for Malappuram campus.
The grant will be a boost for the AMU project to bring into national academic fold the most excluded social segment by establishing its special centres in the development deficit districts. Besides Murshidabad and Malappuram, AMU will also open its campus in Kishanganj, Bhopal and Pune.
AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis has thanked the Central Government and the UGC for releasing the grant.
