PFI leaders arrested in Karnataka

By TCN News,

Bangalore: The leaders of the Popular Front of India were arrested in Bangalore and Dakshin Kannada (DK) district without any warrant, said the press release of the organization. The press release signed by PFI Bangalore district president Mohammed Tahir says that the leaders were arrested from their residences at around 12 am on May 16. The organization has also decided to carry out peaceful protest measures if its leaders were not released in a dignified way’.

The police reportedly ‘barged into the houses of these leaders’ and took them off forcefully ‘in the pretext of investigation’ in the KG Halli police station limits and in Puttur in DK district. The organization sees the arrest of its leaders without warrant as ‘a violation of (the) guidelines set by the Supreme Court of India to arrest a person’. The press release also accuses the BJP government and the government machinery of having a biased attitude towards the Muslim organizations and its leaders.

It also questioned the arrest of its leaders for no reason while the Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik was moving freely around despite having been caught on camera as receiving money to organize riots. The PFI had organized protest demanding the government to ban the Sene and to arrest the leader following the expose by the ‘Tehelka’-‘Headlines Today’ sting operation.
