Lima : The chief of the Peruvian army general staff died of a heart attack here in the capital while he was taking part in talks with Ecuadorian officials.
Maj. Gen. Abilio Fox Calle fainted at around 11 a.m. Monday during a meeting at a Lima hotel, an army press release said Tuesday.
He was immediately taken to a clinic, where he died, according to the medical report.
The army said this was an “irreparable loss for the institution” and expressed its “deepest sorrow” to the family of the deceased.
