Punjab sanctions Rs.110 crore for veterinary facilities

Chandigarh : The Punjab government Saturday sanctioned over Rs.110 crore for new veterinary poly-clinics and hospitals.

According to animal husbandry officials, nine new poly-clinics, 70 block level veterinary hospitals and dispensaries and 67 mobile vans will be introduced.

“We have allocated Rs.62.97 crore for the construction of nine poly-clinics at Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Mohali, Nawanshahr, Amritsar and Moga towns. We have already placed the orders for the equipment that will be installed there,” said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here Saturday.

“We have earmarked Rs.29.51 crore to provide state-of-the-art equipment in about 1,000 dispensaries at the block level. Likewise Rs.22.58 crore has been provided for the repair and renovation of the buildings of 449 veterinary hospitals and 568 dispensaries in the state,” said Badal.

Badal also approved a sum of Rs.15 crore to modernise the Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute at Ludhiana. He also sanctioned over Rs.10 crore for 67 mobile veterinary vans.
