Over 130 acres of illegally sold government land recovered

New Delhi : The Delhi government Saturday said it has retrieved about 136.5 acres of government agricultural land illegally sold by the land mafia in the last two months.

“The revenue department has retrieved agriculture land measuring 136.5 acres in two revenue districts of northwest and southwest in May and June. It includes gram sabha and government land which had been sold by land mafia and builders to the people,” Revenue Minister Raj Kumar Chouhan said.

Chouhan said strict action will also be taken against new construction in 1,639 illegal colonies, which had come up before 2007 and are under active consideration of the state government for regularisarion. The state government has banned illegal constructions coming up in the city after 2007.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit June 7 had warned the officials who allow the unauthorised colonies to come up.

It had said that from now on deputy commissioners of revenue department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, deputy commissioners of police and police station house officers of the area concerned will also not be spared.
