Chidambaram and I are still close friends: Digvijay Singh

By IANS,

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh Saturday said he and Home Minister P. Chidambaram are “still close friends” despite his calling the latter “intellectually arrogant” in a newspaper column.

“I had a chat with the home minister. As I mentioned we have been close friends, we are still close friends… I don’t regret it. It is more of a comment on a friend. Don’t you make a comment on your own friend? I made that remark and I went and apologised also that don’t feel bad about it. PC (Chidambaram) has always been calling me an opposition leader in UPA,” Singh told NDTV.

In his column in Economic Times, Singh had strongly criticised Chidambaram’s anti-Maoist strategy.

He said Chidambaram’s approach was a “narrow sectarian view, treating it as a purely law and order problem” and that he has been a victim of the home minister’s “intellectual arrogance”.
