New Delhi : Mahmoud Shelbaieh’s 69th minute equaliser gave Al Wihdat the away goal advantage over Jordanian compatriots Al Faisaly as the first leg of their AFC Cup football semi-final at the Amman International Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.

Shelbaieh’s effort Wednesday night cancelled out Siraj Tall’s opener for the two-time defending champions, which came two minutes before the break, to give Al Wihdat, the Jordanian league champions, what could turn out to be a crucial away goal ahead of the return leg Oct 23, reports AFC’s official website.

In the other semi-final first leg, also played in Amman, Odai Al Saify scored an early goal as Jordan Cup champions Shabab Al Ordun grabbed a narrow advantage against Al Nejmeh with a 1-0 win over the Lebanese side Tuesday. Al Nejmeh had beaten Mahindra United of India by an aggregate 5-4 score in the quarter finals.

Al Saify, who was also on target in the 2-0 victory against Al Nejmeh during the group stage, scored the only goal of the game after five minutes to raise hopes of an all-Jordanian final after the return game in Beirut in two weeks.
