TRS chief gets notice for poll code violation

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Election Commission Tuesday sought Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s response to charges that he had made inflammatory statements ahead of by-elections in Andhra Pradesh’s Telangana region and thus violated the model code of conduct.

He has been asked to reply before 11 a.m. Thursday.

“If no reply is received within the prescribed time limit, it will be presumed that you (Rao) have nothing to say and the Commission will proceed to take appropriate action without making any further reference to you,” the poll panel said in a statement here.

By-elections to 12 assembly seats will be held July 27.
