Srinagar: A 22-year, Rameez Ahmad Rishi, who got seriously injured in security force firing in Sopore town on Friday, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The death toll in Kashmir violence since June 11 reached 49.
Rishi had sustained a bullet injury and doctors at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, (SKIMS) said he could not be revived despite their best efforts, Dr. Tabish told Agence India Press.
Rameez son of Ghulam Nabi Reshi was among seven people wounded when CRPF personnel and police opened fire upon a group of protesters in Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir.
Rameez was hit by a bullet in the head. Ramez was rushed to the SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura in Srinagar on Friday.
With Rishi’s death, the number of civilians killed in security forces firing during violent protests here since July 30 has gone up to 31.
Meanwhile, 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) army cops drowned after their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the flooded Chenab River in Kishtwar district in Jammu region.
The vehicle, which was on way from Thathri to Drabshalla, fell into the river at Kuligarh, about 200-kms from here, yesterday, police said.
The vehicle along with three other occupants submerged in the river. Despite the search operation neither the bodies nor the vehicle could be traced so far, they said.
