Shimla : Five people were killed and seven others injured when their mini-truck collided with a stationary lorry in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, police said Friday.
The victims were mostly from Kalka in Haryana.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Badri Dutt told IANS that the accident occurred at Premnagar near Kotkhai town, some 70 km from Shimla, Thursday night.
“The mini-truck slammed into the stationary vehicle and the impact of the collision was so strong that three died on the spot,” he added.
The seven injured have been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla.
The past two days saw two major accidents in the state that claimed the lives of 63 people.
As many as 25 people were killed and 28 injured when an overcrowded bus skidded off the road and fell into a 500-foot deep gorge near Chaila on the Kotkhai-Theog road, 45 km from Shimla, Thursday evening.
On Wednesday evening, 38 people, including 22 women and nine children, were killed and as many were injured in Mandi district when an overcrowded truck skidded off the road and fell into a gorge.
