New Delhi : Exports of coconuts from India continues to rise, and totalled 24,878 tonnes worth Rs.549 million in 2009-10, Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas said Friday.
This included 12,709 tonnes of fresh coconuts, 2,727 tonnes of dried coconuts, 1,569 tonnes of desiccated coconuts and 7,871 tonnes of other coconuts, he said in a written statement in the Rajya Sabha.
Responding to a question from N. Balaganga, the minister said the government had noticed a steady increase in coconut exports to various countries.
He said the Coconut Development Board has been notified as the Export Promotion Council for all coconut products other than those made from coconut husk and fibre.
