Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Wednesday sent two teams of medical professionals to protect people in Pakistan’s flood-affected areas from water-borne diseases.

The team of the UAE Red Crescent Authority will work in coordination with the mission of United National Children’s Funds (Unicef).

Saleh Al Taiei, Deputy Secretary General of the RCA for Relief and Projects, said the mission aims to immunise over 625,000 people from several water-borne diseases.

He said one team takes care of the immunisation programmes and the other will provide diagnostic and curative services at refugees camps.
