Srinagar : Six militants were gunned down by Indian soldiers in the Tangdhar sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir Saturday.
A statement issued here by the spokesman of the Indian Army said troops of 16 Jat regiment observed the movement of the guerrillas in the Tangdhar sector of the LoC.
“When the group of terrorists was challenged, they opened fire from their automatic weapons on the troops resulting in a long fire fight at the end of which all the six terrorists were killed.
“A large quantity of arms and ammunition has also been recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists,” the statement said.
Authorities here maintain infiltration attempts into the state from Pakistan have recorded an increase this year in comparison to the corresponding period last year.
