Mumbai : Telecom service provider Reliance Communications Tuesday launched SMS based voice conference calls as an extension to its product Group Talk, a handset independent mobile conferencing service.
This service will be made available to all Reliance Mobile GSM and CDMA subscribers using any handset through the ‘SMS based mobile conferencing’ solution from US-based Kodiak Networks, a global leader of group communications solutions, the company said in a statement.
It will allow customers to establish a conference call among a group of nine contacts with single SMS, it added.
Group Talk service was launched early last year as a mobile conferencing service on handsets with Java, Brew, Symbian operating systems and Blackberry handsets. Now with this launch, mobile-centric conferencing facility can be availed from any handset.
The subscription price of the Group Talk is Rs.40 per month.
“Our Mobile Conferencing service is a cost-effective, efficient and convenient solution that enhances productivity of small, medium enterprise customers. Introducing the service now on SMS, the preferred mode of communication for youth and young executives today, will lead to popularisation of conferencing,” said Anil Pande, head VAS (value added service), Reliance Communications.
