Ranchi : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will ask the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headed Jharkhand government for a law to ban religious conversions in the state, a leader said Sunday.
“We will take up the issue with Chief Minister Arjun Munda… to formulate a law to ban conversion in the state. Conversion in any form should be condemned,” RSS state sangh chalak (chief) Jaggnath Sahi told reporters here
“Conversion is banned in many countries like China, Israel and others. It is only in India where conversion is not banned,” he added.
The RSS will stage dharna (demonstrations) in all the 24 districts of the state Wednesday as part of its nationwide protests against the move by the Anti Terrorist Squads (ATS) of the police forces in Rajasthan and Maharashtra to implicate the organisation’s leaders in bomb blast cases.
“The Rajasthan ATS is trying to falsely implicate our senior leader Indresh Kumar in the Ajmer blast case. His name has been unnecessarily dragged in the case and the charge-sheet does not mention his role in the blast. We will protest if RSS leaders are unnecessarily harassed for motivated reasons,” Sahi said.
