Bangalore: Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge Saturday joined Karnataka Congress leaders and workers in protesting against former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief K.S. Sudarshan’s derogatory comments about party chief Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress staged protests at several places across the state, demanding apology from and action against Sudarshan.
A group of party workers was detained when it tried to hold a sit-in protest in front of the RSS office in Mysore, about 130 km from here.
In Bangalore, besides Kharge, the protest was joined by leader of opposition in the Karnataka assembly Siddaramaiah and several legislators.
The RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have dissociated from Sudarshan’s comments and expressed regret.
Sudarshan made the derogatory remarks in Bhopal Wednesday while talking to mediapersons at the end of an RSS protest.
